Gretchen Caldwell Rinnert is an Associate Professor in the School of Visual Communication Design. She graduated in 2008 from North Carolina State University, with a Master’s in Graphic Design. In the past her work focused on the intersection of design and education as a way to improve participation and comprehension. She has presented at various international and national conferences, exhibiting her research at both AIGA Educators Conferences and for the Design Research Society. Her student work has been featured in "Motion Graphic Design: Applied History and Aesthetics" by Jon Krasner. Gretchen’s most recent research includes designing an iPad app for preschoolers in collaboration with Typeface designer and professor, Aoife Mooney. She is also one of the founding member of the MODE Summit, an international conference for Motion Design Educators.
